Since the beginning of the autumn term at Ingfield Manor School we have been delivering the OCNWMR Level 3 Certificate in Conductive Education. This has been a really exciting opportunity to train our team members so that we can enhance their professional development within Conductive Education and in turn improve the overall quality of the service we deliver.

The qualification will enable learners to widen their opportunities for employment as it will provide them with both knowledge and practical skills which would be used in everyday practice.

Although the course has been run previously at the school, this is the first time we have delivered it ‘in house’ by two members of the Senior Leadership Team, Rachel Sebastino and Lizzie Bell, both of whom are experienced conductors and have completed a Tutor Induction course at The National Centre of Conductive Education. It has been a hugely positive opportunity for both the team members and the tutors- all of whom are thoroughly enjoying the course.

There are 8 units of learning which cover topics such as ‘Cerebral Palsy as a problem of learning’; ‘Facilitation and the facilitators role’ and ‘Application of skills: teaching children to move from one place to another’. Following each module, the participants complete assignments which are marked and externally verified.

It is hoped that the course will be completed by the end of this academic year and will be followed by a graduation ceremony held at The National Institute of Conductive Education.

We expect to be able to offer this again and share the good practice.
