Our Secondary Department have recently harnessed their inner thespian to perform the Ingfield version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The preparations, prop making and rehearsals were approached with enthusiasm, with the students showing a keenness to learn and follow instructions – as well as listen to and support each other.
Rehearsals became a regular part of school life, with every opportunity being maximised to use this medium to develop the students’ problem solving, independence, physical and communication skills.
All this culminated in three outstanding performances. All students rose to each occasion magnificently and performing in front of such appreciative audiences has had a fantastic positive impact on their self-esteem and confidence.
Some quotes from parents – “each individual child is so carefully challenged to show off all of the physical work they do”, “It’s all so very clever and I can see how intricately it is planned”, “ What a fabulous play. We all loved it. You were brilliant” and “Such an amazing production, it was brilliant”.
