Staff took the inspiration from the rainbow themed community over the course of the last months of the summer term. Cupboards that were somewhat tired looking and very beige, were completely transformed into a colourful delight, with a switch at the start of the walkway that Students can press to hear the rainbow song, and a tactile experience with shaped felt to help those students with a visual impairment explore. Pictorial ‘Signs’ for the colours are also included to help children who use signing to supplement their communication.
A large sensory rainbow display took shape outside our secondary and sixth form departments. With plastic carrier bags, bottle tops and egg boxes all providing a tactile experience for our students.
We welcomed our students back on site on 7th September and the new improved environments have been welcomed by all.
